Bilingual Family Storytelling
Author or artist-led events celebrating the oral tradition across languages and cultures — co-created with your school's community and calendar.

How We Curate Our Collection

Every book in a ¡Viva! Los Libros collection is highly vetted. We prioritize:

  • Anti-racist and anti-bias titles that meet the standards of culturally relevant education for children and young people
  • Books that feature people, not animals — in 2020, over 70% of children's books featured white children or animal characters; only 37% featured Black, Latinx, Native American, Asian/Asian American, or Pacific Islander characters. Our collections are built to reverse that ratio.
  • Authors and illustrators from BIPOC, Latinx, LGBTQIA+, and disabled communities — lived experience is not interchangeable, and people should tell their own stories
  • High-quality Spanish and bilingual texts — whether sourced from Latin American publishers or in translation, each selected to support language learning and cultural affirmation
